Freshtel, a Melbourne based VoIP provider, is planning to offer hardware VoIP phones in the Australian market this month. There are a number of VoIP providers in the US who do this, but AFAIK Freshtel will be the first to offer such a service to residential users in Australia. Being a bit of a geek I am already rolling my own Asterisk based VoIP setup for my home, but for the average consumer with broadband this would be a great service.
