The FBI seems to be taking the threat by Chinese hackers to hack American web sites. If this happens if could be the first use of ‘Cyber warfare’.

The two big questions here are a) will it actually happen, and if it does b) is the Chinese government involved at all.

We’ll all find out next week I guess..

The Age are running an article about the big Internet rethink. Its raises several good points, although I don’t think cars will be free within 10 years. The most important point it raises was that the majority of internet companies that have gone broke were those with poor business plans, or no idea what they were doing. See yesterday’s post of a list of some of the bigger mistakes made.

Clippy gets the sack

Good news for everyone… The MS Office Paperclip (Clippy) will not be included in future versions of Office.

Looks like Napster is in trouble again.

Personally I can’t see them ever getting all the copyrighted material off their service without changing from a default allow all policy to a default deny all policy. The trouble with that is that only allowing songs through that are supposed to be traded freely cuts the number of songs available to a fraction of what it is now. This in turn will cause users to stop using the service and find alternatives elsewhere, effectively killing their business or selling banner ads or whatever it is they do to make money.
