Zdnet is running an interesting story on some of the dot com disasters from y2k. I’m glad this dot com mania is coming to an end. Without the all the hype people should be able to focus on getting business done rather than trying to make a quick buck.

This may be a hoax, but apparently Iraq is stockpiling Playstation 2 consoles with the hope of using them for military research. The article even claims it is possible to cluster the PS2 units to form a super computer of sorts.

Today’s net-asshole / stupidhead award goes to BT who are now starting legal proceedings against US ISPs who are using hyperlinks. BT have one of these weird and quite vague patents which allows them to claim ownership of the technology used in the good old A tag in html.

This whole thing is quite similar to the Amazon one-click shopping thing a while back, except on a much larger scale. Personally I think the whole patent system is way out of sync with current technology and needs a good kick in the bum.

I thought some Christmas Cheer might be appropriate considering the time of year. Please take a few minutes to listen to The 12 Pains of Christmas.

Thought that I should pass this along - it sounds legitimate…..

There is another awful scam going on out there. You should send this to any
women you know and care about. I don’t normally post warnings about
scams, but this one looks important.

If a man comes to your door and says he is conducting a survey and asks you
to show him your tits, DO NOT SHOW HIM YOUR TITS. This is a scam.

He is only trying to see your tits.

Just showing Anthony how blogger works.

As it turns out, while I was demonstrating this blogger was refusing to upload the new page to my server. How rude.

I have no real content to add at the moment as the traditional end of year slowdown has kicked in.

Today I saw the actual fibres in one of the worlds newest and largest submarine cable links. Not something you’d see every day, and not something I’m ever likely to see again. Needless to say, it was an excellent outing.

A note to motorists: Don’t be running over baboons and think you can get away with it. SMH is running a story about some baboons in Saudi Arabia who set up an ambush for a motorist who ran over a member of their group.

Apparently the baboons waited 3 days for the motorist to drive through the area again, and when they noticed his return one baboon have a signal and they all started throwing rocks at his car. Unfortunately the motorist escaped unharmed, but at lest they managed to shatter his windscreen.

One thing is for sure about those baboons, they don’t monkey around.
Really bad humor..
