I’ve seen some strange competitions and prizes around before, but this takes the cake. Tucows are giving away two cows to the person who registeres their 2,000,000th domain year.

As having two cows hanging around could be somewhat inconvenient you, you can instead have a years supply of milk, or the current retail value of the cow, which is around $2,500US.

Looks like these ducks had a lucky escape. 3 wrecked cars, one girl went to hospital, but as long as the ducks are safe then the world is a better place.

Aloha.

This week has been designated Brisbane week. This is due to the fact that I have been in Brisbane since Monday, and will remain here until Sunday. I’m up here on work for the APNIC meeting until Friday, when Kylie is flying up for the weekend.

The APNIC gig has been really good so far, especially the talks by Geoff Huston from Telstra who really knows his stuff. The APNIC website has lots of the presentations online in the meeting section which I’d recommend reading if you’re at all intrested in some of the internet routing and regulation issues.

I’m actually quite lucky to be here. The company I was working for, who I won’t name, went broke around a month ago, but I managed to get hired by a new company right away. This new company, who I also won’t name, has big plans and big bucks so hopefully this job will be longer lasting than the previous one.

Going back a week - I went out to the Paralympics last weekend and saw a game of wheelchair basketball. I can honestly say its just as good a spectator sport as able bodied basketball, and I’d definatly watch it again. The game I saw was France Vs Japan, and even though Australia wasn’t playing the crowd was still big enough to 3/4 fill the Superdome. France won in the end, despite the efforts of Jimbo from Japan, who has a most excellent surname.

Alas, now I must sleep.
